To show their commitment towards curbing the spread of crime in the township, Kliptown police arrested 15 people for possession of dagga over the weekend.
“The number of people arrested for possession of dagga is alarming. We urge residents to work with the police so that we curb the spread of possession of drugs in our community,” said Kliptown police spokesperson, constable, Thuli Ngwenya.
Ngwenya said that if nothing is done drugs will continue to affect our community negatively.

How about worrying about real criminals?? Like hijackers, murderers and rapists? Not people smoking a bit of bud! Seems like Marshall security concentrates on real criminals while the SAP goes for soft targets like potheads
This is in no way helping to fight crime, It simply puts a few harmless people who just wanted to have a smoke in jail, And now because of this possibly without a job, And exposure to jail, Were they will learn to become real criminals
Useless SAPS
Looks like shwag to me anyway, you wanna curb crime: arrest suppliers, not smokers.
How does arresting dagga users curb the spread of crime? There are enough real crime in SA to focus on like theft, robbery and murder that hurt people. Using dagga doesn’t hurt anyone. The only harm is that caused to the user by the SAP when arrested. How does that equate to serve and protect?

The only thing the SAP achieve through dagga arrest is driving up the price of dagga and ensuring that it is a lucrative commodity for gangsters to sell.
Stop supporting this prohibition. It is harming South Africans.
We are paying millions of rands in taxes arresting and and Jailing SO CALLED “criminals” just for possession of a plant that is actually less debilitating than alcohol and less harmful than both cigarettes and alcohol… We manage to successfully add and control “sin tax” on both Tobacco and Alcohol??? If it were legal then whatever ever money this country does get after corruption has taken its tax will definitely be much better than spending more and more money to try and enforce this racist and outdated law!
