Last night a 29-year-old man allegedly burnt an eight month old baby boy who was later taken to hospital for facial burns.
Police spokesperson warrant officer Kay Makhubela said the man’s relation to the mother and child is not clear yet but the man from Jabulani hostel allegedly burnt the child by pouring a hot pot of chicken on the infant’s face.
Makhubela said the baby’s face was badly burnt.
Makhubela said the motive behind the man’s actions is not yet known but the suspect was taken into police custody last night and will appear in the Protea magistrate court next Monday.
