It is now customary that the best-performing school in Orlando East is awarded a floating trophy.
Last year the trophy went to Orlando High School, this year Lofenste Girls High School took the trophy with their 94.7 matric pass rate.
Councillor Sechaba Khumalo said that rewarding the best school with the floating trophy is a way of motivating pupils.
“I would like to encourage the matriculants of 2014 to work hard from the beginning of the year. I encourage all our high schools to work hard, it is anyone’s game to get the floating trophy in 2014.
