The councillor of ward 49, Mandla Mlangeni said the protest that happened in April in Bramfischerville was a result of the level of crime in the area.
Mlangeni said residents are concerned about crime especially nyaope.
Nyaope users are suspected to be committing crime such as house breaking, armed robbery and other criminal acts.
With regard to the protest, Mlangeni said that the police are busy investigating the matter and that he has not yet received an update.
“We have formed patrol structures to help fight the crime in the community,” said Mlangeni.
