Gauteng to have 17 new schools

New schools to ease pressure of existing structures.

In the financial year of 2014/2015 a budget of R690 million has been set aside by the Department of Education for the building of new schools in the province.

This was an announcement that was made by the Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi recently.

Lesufi says that there is an extra R540.3 million that has been assigned for the restoration of schools in Gauteng.

The first primary school falling part of this plan was officially opened in Tembisa last week.

He says that these schools will be built to help ease the pressure of the rapidly growing learning population in the province.
