A tremor that lasted for about 30 seconds was felt across Johannesburg shortly after midday.
Gauteng Weather tweeted that the tremor measured 5.3 on the Richter scale and the epicentre was six kilometeres east of Orkney.
According to Gauteng Weather, the tremor was felt as far as Durban, Bloemfontein and even neighbouring Botswana.
Gauteng Weather also tweeted that this is the second tremor felt in Gauteng in less than two months.
