Angry mob torch Eskom cars

15 Eskom cars burnt while seven others damaged.

To show their frustration against not having electricity, it is alleged that angry hostel residents burnt 15 Eskom cars and damaged seven other cars on Wednesday night.

Residents picketed outside the Eskom depot demanding their area to also have electricity.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the crowd was big however, the protest was peaceful and the roads have been cleared.

Yesterday morning, protesters blocked the Sofasonke and Klipspruit Valley intersection with rocks and tyres and motorists had to use alternative routes.

Makhubela said the police are monitoring the situation.
