Electricity goes up

Consumers to feel the pinch as electricity tariffs go up.

From yesterday July 1, consumers will pay 7% more for their electricity.

This comes after the announcement by National Electricity Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) approved tariff increases Last Thursday.

City Power managing director, Sicelo Xulu said in a statement that they welcomed the decision by the regulator to approve all the tariff increase applications submitted by the utility.

He said these tariff increases strike the balance between raising the required capital to improve infrastructure to ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of electricity.
